RECREATING THE SHAKE SHACK ‘SHROOM BURGER: a cautionary tale
I followed the instructions from Serious Eats to create the ‘Shroom Burger. The whole process went easily enough, except I found that there was too much mushroom, and the caps didn’t flatten out the way Shake Shack’s do. I pan fried them to save on the oil, which cut down on my calories and made up for the fact that they were practically drowning in cheesy goodness. I used a muenster/cheddar blend but it was a little too sharp and bland in my taste, I’m thinking I’ll go with a mozzarella/american blend next time around. Not my favorite recipe, but very exciting to try something new!
